Reading Festival 2015

The whole idea of getting a day ticker for Reading Festival started a few months back when my friend mentioned how much she really wanted to go for her birthday.

Personally, I’ve never been too much of a festival-y person because port-a-loos and mud are literally my worst enemies, but I actually quite liked the bands playing AND It was honestly so much better than I ever expected.

The headliners included Mumford and Sons, Alt-J, Bastille, All Time Low, Panic! At the Disco so the main theme of the festival was punk/rock (with a few exceptions)

Okay, so the first act we saw was ‘Echosmith’ which are an indie pop band from California, and let me tell you they were SO DAMN GOOD.  They sang pretty much all of their hits, including ‘Come Together’, ‘Bright‘ and of course ‘Cool Kids’ (which is naturally a personal favourite).

The lead singer, Sydney Sierota, is honestly the cutest thing ever and, if it wasn’t for the fact I love her so much, I probably would have spent the whole of their set enviously eyeing her dress.

Act number two … ‘Panic! At The Disco’.  These guys were honestly so much better live than I could have imagined.  My friend and I had kinda managed to push our way through the crowd so we were about five rows from the front and the energy in the crowd was INSANE.

My personal favourite I think had to be ‘Nicotine‘ or ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’  (okay .. yes, admittedly these are probably their main hits .. but they’re hits for a reason, right?)

‘All Time Low’ had to be one of the highlights of the day.  We were second row from the front and honestly I’m so sorry for anybody who was stood next to me because I danced like crazy.

Their setlist featured, ‘Lost In Stereo‘, ‘Kids In The Dark’, ‘Time Bob’ (they brought a load of people from the crowd out on stage with the during this which was awesome), ‘Missing You,’ and ‘Dear Maria, Count Me In’  so I was pretty chuffed.

The bass player Jack Barakat also launched himself into the crowd right next to us which was probably the coolest thing that has ever happened near me.  I was absolutely buzzing afterwards.  IT WAS EPIC!

Okay, yes the quality of this next picture is appalling (the lighting inside the tent didn’t help), I FINALLY got to see one of my all time favourite bands live … ‘Simple Plan’.  I’ve been obsessed with their music for years but never had the chance to see them live, and so I was actually ecstatic to find out they were on the line up.

They played pretty much all of their hits, such as ‘Summer Paradise’, ‘Jet Lag’, ‘Loser of The Year’, ‘Welcome To My Life’, plus a couple of others.  And I have to admit my singing and dancing were both pretty awful.

I can’t wait for them to come back for their UK tour!

Although Reading Fest is definitely a less glamorous version of Coachella (hahaha), it was literally such a fun day and I am actually considering camping for the whole weekend next year.  Yes, you heard it.  Me and camping.  (I might regret saying this).
